Who Qualifies for the Pilot?
The 60-day pilot is open to any Canadian municipality, local service district, Inuit community, First Nations band council, or regional authority that:
- Does not currently use a dedicated GIS asset management platform
- Has a designated point of contact (CAO, clerk, or DPW manager)
- Has at least one asset type to track (roads, water, buildings)
- Can commit 4–6 hours of staff time in the first two weeks for training
We're focused on small and medium municipalities — communities that have been underserved by large enterprise vendors. If your population is over 25,000, please contact us to discuss a tailored approach.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this really free? No strings?
Yes. No credit card is required. At the end of 60 days, you decide. If you choose not to subscribe, we export all your data in GeoJSON, CSV, and Shapefile formats and your environment is decommissioned. There's no obligation and no follow-up sales pressure.
Do I need to provide data in a specific format?
No. We accept Excel spreadsheets, shapefiles, AutoCAD DXF, CSV files, Google Sheets, or even a hand-drawn map of your infrastructure. We'll do the data preparation work.
Can we use CCBF or other grants to fund the subscription after the pilot?
Yes. MunicipalGIS subscriptions are eligible for CCBF Capacity Building funding and FCM's Municipal Asset Management Program. We'll provide documentation to support your grant application.
How long does setup take?
Typically 3–5 business days from the time you send us your data. Your team will have access and training within the first week.
Where is our data stored?
All data is stored on OVH Canada infrastructure in Montréal, Québec. Data never leaves Canada. This satisfies provincial and federal requirements for municipal data residency.
What happens to our data if we don't subscribe?
You receive a complete export of everything you entered — GeoJSON, CSV, and Shapefile. Your data is yours. We retain nothing after decommissioning.
